P.S. 11/7/11: I am sorry to report that this uploading has been removed for legal reasons. Too bad. People who saw it might have gone out and purchased the DVD.
Four days ago, someone uploaded on YouTube a complete uninterrupted video of Carlos conducting Bizet's "Carmen" with the Wiener Staatsoper on December 9, 1978.
The video quality of this upload is far superior to the version previously viewable on YouTube.
Of particular interest to CK fans is what happened right after Carlos put down the baton at the end of the opera, at 02:29:15. For the next 4:58 we see the fervid audience response, something given short shrift on the DVD. In particular, we are fortunate to see what happened when Carlos came out for his bow after the main singers took theirs and the curtain opened to show the whole cast of extras and technicians. The main singers then came back with Carlos in the middle of 'the line' and the audience, already applauding vigorously, immediately exploded into much more intense and louder applause! The clear shots of Carlos smiling broadly and even applauding the orchestra are precious indeed.
I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did. I urge you to set the video quality of the clip at 480p or 720p instead of the lower-quality default of 360p.
