For all Carlos Kleiber fans: A person in Italy, who uses the handle "volodya2," has just uploaded audio files of CK's last concert, given in Cagliari, Italy, on Feb. 26, 1999. On that occasion Carlos led the Bayerischer Rundfunk Orchester. Volodya2 uploaded recordings of all three pieces on that program: Beethoven's 4th Symphony (in four parts), Beethoven's 7th Symphony (also in four parts), and "Die Fledermaus" by Johann Strauss II. Volodya2 also recently uploaded recordings of Carlos conducting... -- the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in a 1978 performance of George Butterworth's "English Idyll #1"; and -- the West Deutsche Rundfunk Orchester in a 1972 performance of extracts from Alban Berg's "Wozzeck" (in two parts). The soloist is Gwendy Fine. Since volodya2 has uploaded other Kleiber performances, I recommend checking out all his uploads at: www.youtube.com/user/volodya2#p/u/0/5pEwhe-3GXU. I wish you good listening, RM

Orlofsky,
Having listened to some of the audio for each of the three pieces on the concert program that night -- Feb. 26, 1999 -- my initial impression is that the caliber of the performances was not quite up to the standard attained by Carlos with the Bayerisches Staatsorchester or the WPO in the 1980s and early 1990s.
Regards,
RM
